10 Best States for Vegan Dating in the US

Virginia has officially been crowned the best state for vegan dating in the US, followed by Illinois, and Oregon

Virginia has taken the top spot for vegans and vegetarians to find love, according to Veggly, the world’s leading dating app for vegans and vegetarians. Veggly has announced the top US state rankings with Virginia (incl DC.) at number one spot with 671.05 Veggly users per 1 million people (general population). The second spot is taken by Illinois with 532.55 users per 1 million, and is closely followed by the ‘Beaver State’, Oregon, which has 529.69 users per a million.

New York, the ‘Empire State’, takes fourth place with 521.32 Veggly users per 1 million and has the second highest total number of users. Washington (state) takes fifth place with 481.63 users, followed by Colorado with 467.19 users per 1 million in sixth place.

The ‘Golden State’ of California is in seventh place with 466.79 users per 1 million, but also has the largest number of overall users. In eighth place is the ‘Sunshine State’ of Florida with 454.38 users per 1 million. Florida is particularly important state for Veggly, as two couples have already tied the knot! One couple, Nathan and Wil, got married in Florida in 2020 and found love through a tap of a like on Veggly.

Ninth place goes to Massachusetts with 412.77 Veggly users but is very closely followed by New Jersey which has 405.85 users per million, in tenth place.

Texas didn’t make it into the top 10, but did score well overall with a ranking at number 11, with 371.51 users per 1 million. Arizona closely follows with 365.21 users in twelfth place; next up is Georgia in thirteenth place with 340.49 users, and North Carolina has 3125.78 user in fourteenth place, then Maryland in fifteenth place.

In sixteenth position is the industrial state of Pennsylvania with 282.88 users per 1 million. Following up in seventeenth place is Ohio with 261.39 Veggly users, then with 260.93 users per million is Tennessee in eighteenth place. Michigan is close behind in nineteenth place with 259.07 Veggly users per million. Lastly, Minnesota takes the 20th spot with 253.21 Veggly users per 1 million people.

Overall, in terms of total numbers of users, California reigns supreme with 18,368 users, followed by Texas in second place with 10,640 users, just narrowly beating out New York with 10,171 users, in third place. Florida is close behind in fourth place, with 9,642 users overall.

52% of vegans would not date a meat-eater

New global research from Veggly reveals that over half of vegans would not date a meat-eater

Veggly, the world’s leading dating app for vegans and vegetarians, today releases new data from a survey of 14,00 users across the world to reveal the top vegan dating trends for 2021.

The research shows that over half of vegans (52%) wouldn’t consider a relationship with a meat-eater. In addition, just over 12% of vegans, roughly 1 in 8, wouldn’t even consider dating a vegetarian, as they are still consumers of animal products.

Vegetarians are also reluctant when it comes to meat-eaters. 4 in 10 (39%) wouldn’t consider a carnivore for a partner.

Veggly Growth

The new findings help explain the recent, rapid growth of Veggly. Our platform now has over 250,000 users around the world. Since July 2019, the app has grown in user numbers by a factor of 10, from 25,000 users.

Overall, the United States boasts the highest number of Veggly users in one country, with 46,552. Brazil is second, with 39,215 users, and the UK is third with 34,420 users. Germany places fourth, with 33,890 users

Available throughout the world (used in 181 countries), Veggly is set to continue its rapid growth thanks to teams of vegans who have worked together to translate the app into 8 languages: English, Spanish, German, Portuguese, French, Italian, Danish and Polish, with many more languages on the way.

Rise in Veganism

The rise of veganism and plant-based diets across the globe in the past two years has fuelled Veggly’s rise to prominence.

Vegan population has grown significantly in almost every country. As an example, a recent study revealed that the number of Americans following a plant-based diets is up by nearly 10 million over the last 15 years – a 300% increase and nearly 3 percent of the population in the United States.

My name is Evi and I am 18. My partner’s name is Falco and he is 23. We matched on the 13th December 2019 on the app. We had many awesome dates, the first one being on a vegan Christmas market! Since the 2nd of February 2020 we are officially a couple. </p> <p>The story began when I just signed up on the app (on the 13th dec), scrolled trough and then I saw his cute merge smile. We both clicked each other’s “like” buttons and we matched <3 Later he told me that he saw a new like and immediately knew I was the one when he saw my profile. We texted for a few days, shared each other’s instagram and our numbers later on. We noticed a strong connection between us and decided to meet asap. We live in different cities (I am from Krefeld and he is from Herne), </p> <p>I don’t think we would have met without the app. We are real greenies & the connection is even greener, so we took the train to see each other, always with the hydro flask and a vegan snack in the backpack. I had a relationship with an omnivore for 2.5 years, & I have to admit that it was awful going out eating outside or to talk about the climate change, animal agriculture etc. I was sure that my next partner should have the same values as me. I am so grateful that I found Falco through Veggly. </p> <p>We have the same values and beliefs, the same ideology and the same interests. I mean we share everything!! We love to cook together and marinade some good tofu. We also went to a vegan meet-up and met some really nice people with the same interests and taste of food. I am so happy that I found someone, who supports me and makes me happy – he does. I can only recommend to date another vegan, the chances that your vegan partner is a good cook is very high, also you have someone on your side who encourages you to stand up for what you believe in. ”<br><br>(The first pic is from our first date, on a ferris wheel 🎡, the other pics are us now.
