Top 9 Free Vegan Apps for a Plant-Based Lifestyle

Quitting meat and other animal products to start a vegan or vegetarian lifestyle can come with its challenges. There are so many new things to discover or avoid and it can be overwhelming for someone who’s new to plant based living. However, a thrifty veggie doesn’t let any of that get in their way. We’ve selected 9 apps for vegans and vegetarians that are going to make everything about plant based living easier. This selection is made taking into consideration the number of ratings for each app and their overall ratings in the app stores to assess their popularity. Whether you’re looking to be more organized with your cruelty-free diet, or trying to figure out which products are vegan-safe, this list is for you!

Happy Cow

One of the most popular platforms for vegans and vegetarians, HappyCow helps its users find vegan restaurants nearby. Actually, the app has already evolved far beyond that since its launch in 1999. HappyCow is great not just for finding vegan places, but also for checking out reviews and recommendations about these places. This one is essential both for new veggies and seasoned ones alike.

abillion

What started out with the ambitious goal to help 1 billion people become vegan by 2030 and to donate 1 billion dollars to the vegan movement has now become one of the most successful apps for vegans and vegetarians. This online community works to build a more sustainable world, and serves as a place to review and recommend brands, restaurants and products. The catch here is that, every time a user posts a review, they get $1 to donate to a charity related to the vegan movement.

Oh She Glows

This one simply had to be included in our top apps for vegans and vegetarians. Oh She Glows can be used as a recipe book, featuring recipes from an award-winning blog of the same name. This gem comes with beautiful photography to serve as inspiration, as well as a ton of customization options. Although the recipes here are carefully curated and edited for top reliability, you can adjust, add notes, remove ingredients and whatever else your heart desires.

Dr Greger’s Daily Dozen

Dr Greger’s top recommendations from his best-selling book, How Not to Diet, are all gathered in just one app. This one is less about what’s being eaten and more about how much and how often. The app is presented by the founder of nutrionfacts.org and is here to help users looking for a healthier diet. Without counting calories, you can keep track of your daily portions of fruits, vegetables, seeds and is a general life-saver in terms of having an organized diet.

Veggly

Veggly is the dating app for vegans and vegetarians. Currently at the 500k users mark, Veggly is here to help you find your Veg-Love! After all, veggies need more than just yummy food to live a happy life. Users can like, match and chat with each other, which can lead to something else. There is also an emphasis on meaningful connections, so it’s also excellent to make new friends. Tired of having to filter through meat eaters? Then definitely check out Veggly!

Shopwell

Shopwell is a product scanner that takes into consideration not only barcodes and labels, but also the person using it. By creating a Food Profile with goals, restrictions and health concerns, each user gets a Score. With this information, the app can not only simplify the nutritional information, but also indicate how well it matches up with what the user has established in their profile. It also recommends similar products that might be a better choice, so definitely not just a product scanner!

Vegan Meal Plan

Here’s an app for vegans and vegetarians who want to step up their cooking game. Vegan Meal Plan comes with a bunch of gorgeous pictures and all the nutritional information to go along with mouth watering, healthy recipes. It makes whipping delicious meals up so much easier that the recipes themselves come with timers for each step of the recipe with a cooking time.

Vegan Maps

Over 100,000 options for vegan, raw and vegetarian restaurants? That sounds like a dream come true! Whether you are on the road or still haven’t found out where to get the best cruelty-free food near you, Vegan Maps is sure to have something that will please you.

Yuka

Yuka is a product scanner that gives you all the information you need about a product, whether it’s food or cosmetics. It also gives a score based on nutritional quality, presence of additives and organic dimension. Based on these factors, the app tells the user which options are better and healthier. Yuka also recommends other products, which is always handy!

Italian couple meets on Veggly! #OurVegMatch

We get so happy when we bring a new vegan couple together! This is the main reason why we created Veggly and knowing that we are helping people this way make us very happy and inspire us to keep going!

Dario and Marta met through Veggly and are dating nowadays. Take a look at the testimony that they shared with us:

“Me and Dario met on Veggly in December 2020. I wasn’t looking for anything serious, but we immediately got along so well that our chats were almost endless. Unfortunately, Italy was in lockdown at the time and we lived in two different cities, Trento and Milan, so it was not possible to meet in person. However. we were so aligned on many things and share the same values that our desire to meet was increasingly stronger and in January Dario, with a quiet romantic gesture (and also forced by Covid regulations 😂), decided to come to my house and didn’t left it for the following months. Since then we always lived together, alternating between our two houses.

In this year we both grew together, learned how we worked together and as individuals, we traveled a lot, we argued, and made peace countless times. But, most importantly, we lived the love we both deserved 🥰…… and all of this would have never happened if that day in December Dario didn’t write me on Veggly. So thank you, because you too are part of our story 💕” – Dario and Marta (@ourlittleveganplace)

Newly Engaged US Couple Meets on Veggly! #OurVegMatch!

Meet Wil and Nate, who found each other on Veggly and fell in love at first sight – or should we say love at first text? They told us one of the most beautiful stories we’ve received so far from couples who met through the app. Now, we would like to share this inspiring modern love story with you!

veg-match

“I just want to say how happy I am to have found Veggly. I had enough with dating women who just couldn’t understand my ethical concerns regarding animals. Me being vegan and them being non-vegan was something that became a recurring issue. And working from home as a professional artist didn’t exactly give me many opportunities to meet women, let alone the right women. Therefore, I decided to search for a veg-friendly dating app in hopes of finding a better match. I got an account with Veggly and was happy to know that there were others out there who cared about the things I cared about.

My work, however, consumed me, and for months I hadn’t yet dated anyone from the app, that is, until June of 2020. I opened up Veggly and there she was! Her name was Wil. She was so beautiful and she was vegan too! It was her first day on the app. We started chatting, and quickly took our conversation to Instagram, and then Skype. I lived in Tampa. She lived in Miami. We were both over four hours away from each other, but that didn’t stop us from getting to know one another. We spent two and a half months talking every day before meeting in person. So, by the time we met, it didn’t take long for me to ask her to be my girlfriend. We became a couple in September of 2020.

While our relationship continued to be long distance, we made the effort to visit each other on weekends. Sometimes she’d come to Tampa. Sometimes I’d go to Miami. And other times we’d meet in the middle – exploring beaches, canoeing rivers, and camping in the wilderness. It was so much fun to have the opportunity to spend time with her, and it was always comforting to know that our diet and our ethics were never going to be an issue.
Eventually, after months of long distance dating, Wil accepted a remote position, which gave her the opportunity to move to Tampa! Since her move, we’ve had the opportunity to grow together, and to know each other more deeply. In September of 2021, one year since we met in person, I happily asked Wil to be my wife. Without hesitation she said yes!
We are grateful to have had the opportunity to meet each other. We are so excited to start the rest of our lives together. Wil tells me that she almost didn’t sign up, but that her brother encouraged her to, because she “could find the one!” Well, turns out, she did. And it only took her one day! “

Hello!
I would like to share my love story with you and also to thank you for creating such an amazing app that allows us to find people that have similar values and beliefs.

I am Allana, a Brazilian student doing an exchange in France.

So, I started using the app around March 2020 when France was in lockdown and also my twin sister pushed me to use it. I met nice people there who became my friends. But then, I stopped using it, because I was a little bit busy with all the work and projects of my University.
In August, I restarted to use Veggly and I matched with Thomas, a vegan French. We talked for 2 weeks and then we decided to meet at the SMMMILE Festival, a vegan event in Paris.

Why People Go Vegan?

Animal welfare tops the list, environment places second and health is third.

Why people go vegan?
The top reason for people making the switch to a vegan diet is animal welfare.

Veggly, the world’s leading dating app for vegans and vegetarians, has released new research revealing the top five reasons why people have chosen to go vegan.

Why people go vegan?

The survey of 8,500 vegans from across the world shows that the top reason for people making the switch to a vegan diet is animal welfare. Overall, 9 in 10 (89.1%) respondents indicated animal welfare was a key reason for cutting out animal products from their diet.

The second most popular reason was to protect the environment and combat climate change. Nearly two thirds of vegans (64.1%) listed environment as a motivating factor for making the switch to a vegan diet. This figure is likely to grow as the links between animal agriculture and climate change become more widely realised around the world.

The third most popular reason was health. Over half of vegans (53.16%) list health as a motivating factor for cutting out animal products from their lives. As strong evidence demonstrating the health benefits of vegan diets continues to build, this figure is also likely to grow.

Food conservation was the fourth most popular reason (15.9%) and cost/inexpensiveness of vegan diets was fifth most popular (6%).

Commenting on the research findings, Founder of Veggly, Alex Felipelli, said:

“There are many excellent reasons to go vegan, so we have found it fascinating to see which motivations are the most popular. We are very pleased to see animal welfare is number one as veganism ultimately gives a voice to the voiceless. At the same time, we can see both environmental and health reasons are strong factors as well. A vegan diet is clearly the best thing for the planet and your health, so it’s no surprise they are also popular reasons.”

Available throughout the world, Veggly is used in 181 countries. We have recently reached 1 million Veg-Matches.

Veggly Reaches 1 Million Veg-Matches

More exciting news for vegans looking for love today! We are very pleased to announce that as the world’s leading dating app for vegans and vegetarians, we now have over 300,000 users around the world.

Since July 2019, the Veggly has grown in user numbers by a factor of 12, from 25,000 users. At the same time, we are also celebrating over 1 million ‘Veg-Matches’ (where two users match with each other) and we predict over 2 million by mid 2021. There has never been a better time for vegan and veggie love!

Commenting on the new user milestone, our Founder, Alex Felipelli, said: “The growth we’ve seen is incredible! As veganism continues to surge in popularity across the world, so does the demand for herbivorous dating and relationships. So many of us want to be with someone who shares the same values and love for animals, so it’s no surprise we have hit the 300,000 user mark so quickly.

“This milestone will strengthen our commitment helping this community grow as much as possible. Especially as it was Valentine’s Day last week, we will do our best to make sure every herbivore on our app finds their ‘Veglentine’ this year.”

Available throughout the world (used in 181 countries), we are now set to continue our rapid growth thanks to a growing army of vegan volunteers around the world who have worked together to translate the app into Spanish, German, Portuguese, French, Italian, Danish and Polish, with many more languages, including Korean, on the way.

Vegan Sexual Performance: 67% report a boost after making the switch

In this article, we reveal our latest research showing how two-thirds of vegans report an increase in sexual performance and enjoyment since switching to a vegan diet.

Vegan sexual performance

Very exciting news for vegans today! Especially when it comes to life in the bedroom! We’ve released new data from a survey of 5,000 vegans across the world revealing how making the switch to a plant-based diet has impacted their sexual enjoyment and performance. The results are worth celebrating!

The research shows that over two thirds of vegans (67%) have experienced a noticeable increase in sexual performance and enjoyment after making the switch to a vegan diet.

In particular, vegan men were most likely to notice a difference. 7 in 10 (71%) vegan men reported a boost, in contrast to 59% of vegan women.

The new findings are consistent with arguments made in The Game Changers by Dr. Aaron Spitz who witnessed a significant boost in strength and duration of erections for male athletes who took part in a controlled test to measure the impact of a vegan diet.

We believe these findings are likely to contribute further to the continued rise of veganism and plant-based diets across the globe.

This excellent growth has helped fuel our own growth in users. We now have over 290,000 users around the world. Find your Veg-Match today!

Commenting on the new research findings, our founder, Alex Felipelli, said: “This is exciting news for vegans and anyone considering a switch to a vegan diet! It’s yet another excellent reason for ditching animal products and choosing vegan food at every meal. It’s clear that your diet can impact life in the bedroom!”

So there you have it! If this doesn’t convince non-vegans, what will?!

As we grow further, make sure you stay up to date and read some of our success stories and messages from our users who found love from their Veg-Matches – all on this page here.

52% of vegans would not date a meat-eater

New global research from Veggly reveals that over half of vegans would not date a meat-eater

  • 1 in 8 vegans wouldn’t even date a vegetarian
  • Veggly now used in 181 countries
  • Rise in veganism and plant-based living responsible for 10x growth in users

Not on Veggly yet? Install now. Help out a single veggie friend by letting them know about Veggly! 😉

Veggly, the world’s leading dating app for vegans and vegetarians, today releases new data from a survey of 14,00 users across the world to reveal the top vegan dating trends for 2021.

Vegan dating

The research shows that over half of vegans (52%) wouldn’t consider a relationship with a meat-eater. In addition, just over 12% of vegans, roughly 1 in 8, wouldn’t even consider dating a vegetarian, as they are still consumers of animal products.

Vegetarians are also reluctant when it comes to meat-eaters. 4 in 10 (39%) wouldn’t consider a carnivore for a partner.

Veggly Growth

The new findings help explain the recent, rapid growth of Veggly. Our platform now has over 250,000 users around the world. Since July 2019, the app has grown in user numbers by a factor of 10, from 25,000 users.

Overall, the United States boasts the highest number of Veggly users in one country, with 46,552. Brazil is second, with 39,215 users, and the UK is third with 34,420 users. Germany places fourth, with 33,890 users

Available throughout the world (used in 181 countries), Veggly is set to continue its rapid growth thanks to teams of vegans who have worked together to translate the app into 8 languages: English, Spanish, German, Portuguese, French, Italian, Danish and Polish, with many more languages on the way.

Rise in Veganism

The rise of veganism and plant-based diets across the globe in the past two years has fuelled Veggly’s rise to prominence.

Vegan population has grown significantly in almost every country. As an example, a recent study revealed that the number of Americans following a plant-based diets is up by nearly 10 million over the last 15 years – a 300% increase and nearly 3 percent of the population in the United States.

Commenting on the new findings, Founder of Veggly, Alex Felipelli, said:

“These findings help us understand why Veggly has become so popular. Many vegans want to be with someone who shares their values and love of animals. For many vegans, their ‘veganism’ is a way life, so it’s understandable they wouldn’t want to be with a partner that consumes animals or animal products.

We created Veggly for that exact reason!

Veggly is here to help herbivores find the best and most compatible partners, and we are 100% dedicated to helping this community grow as much as possible.

We always reinvest in the platform and make improvements every week to improve the experience and cope with rising demand.

We believe that if the question was “Would you prefer to date a vegan”?, the result would be close to 100%. But still, 52% is very high for vegans who would not date a meat-eater at all!

What about you? Would you date a meat-eater? Have you? Leave your comments below and let us know what you think about this.

Veggly is the only vegan/vegetarian dating app available for Android, iOS and desktop/web
